The Movement Is Life Value Project – June 21, 2023

June 21, 2023

Webinar description:

The historical “Fee for Service” payment model for medical care has many negative features. Policy makers and health care insurers have enacted “Alternative Payment Models” (also called “Value Based Purchasing”) for reimbursement of health care providers for services rendered. These new models also have negative consequences. Movement Is Life conducted focus groups of women in disadvantaged populations (Black, Hispanic, and rural poor). These patients identified their frustrations with and what they value most in their health care. The speaker will discuss that alternative payment models must balance not only what providers and payers/policy makers value. A balance between these interests and patients’ interests and values must be reached in new models of health care.
