There is a shortage of healthcare providers to care for persons with arthritis, including osteoarthritis.  Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants are recognized as professionals who can assist to alleviate this workforce shortage.  This presentation will describe a curriculum that has been developed to be used broadly and adapted to meet unique practice and regional needs to positively affect the arthritis provider workforce.

 

About the speaker:

Ben Smith is the Director of Didactic Education at the Florida State University College of Medicine School of Physician Assistant Practice in Tallahassee, Florida. He practices clinically as a Physician Assistant in rheumatology at the McIntosh Clinic, P.C., in Thomasville, Georgia. He works with his supervising physician, Victor M. McMillan, MD, FACP, FACR.  Ben attended PA school at the Medical College of Georgia, graduating summa cum laude in 1999.  He completed the Doctorate of Medical Science Degree with an education concentration from the University of Lynchburg in 2019.
