Megan Janke, PhD – Impact of Arthritis on Meaningful Activity Involvement and Strategies for Health Promotion

Megan C. Janke, Ph.D., LRT/CTRS is an Associate Professor in the recreational therapy program at East Carolina University.  She has also served on the faculty in the School of Aging Studies at the University of South Florida and in the Department of Recreation, Sport, and Tourism at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She has been a certified therapeutic recreation specialist since 1998, with most of her experience occurring in long-term care and community settings with the older adult population. She has served as a board member or consultant for agencies promoting the health and well-being of older adults, including settings such as continuing care retirement communities and non-profit service and advocacy organizations for individuals in communities. She has received external funding and published over 20 articles examining the effects of leisure activities and other interventions on older adults’ health, including several in the area of arthritis.
