Charla Buford Johnson, DNP, RN, ONC has over 32 years’ experience in the healthcare industry and in nursing with majority of her nursing career aimed at the promotion of musculoskeletal care and the advancement of Orthopaedic nursing in the region, state, and at the national level. Dr. Johnson is board certified in orthopaedic nursing. She currently serves as the President-Elect on the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON) Executive Board. In addition, Dr. Johnson serves on the Louisiana Arthritis Foundation Board and she is an Executive Steering Committee member for Movement is Life; a stakeholder group aimed at reducing musculoskeletal health disparities in women, African American, and Latinos. Outside of her volunteer roles, Dr. Johnson serves as the System Director of Nursing Informatics at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System. In this role, Dr. Johnson is responsible for promoting interoperability of the electronic health record and the integration of evidence-based practice into the documentation paths for all clinicians.
