Rebecca Hasson, PhD, FACSM – Exercise Interventions That Work: A Recent History of Effective Exercise Prescriptions

November 15, 2017

Dr. Rebecca Hasson is an Assistant Professor in the Schools of Kinesiology and Public Health and the Director of the Childhood Disparities Research Laboratory at the University of Michigan. Her research broadly focuses on the complex causes and consequences of racial/ethnic disparities in obesity and obesity-related metabolic complications among children and adolescents. More specifically, she is interested in understanding why these disparities exist by examining the interrelationships between environmental, behavioral and biological factors that contribute to metabolic health disparities in African American, Latino, and non-Latino white youth. Her research aims to reduce disparities in multiethnic pediatric populations through the design and implementation of physical activity interventions. She received her bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and completed postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Southern California and University.
