Healthy Weight Week
We are in the midst of Healthy Weight Week, celebrated this year from January 16th through the 22nd. Did you know that your joint pain and your weight may be connected? In terms of osteoarthritis, the most common type of arthritis, managing your weight with a healthy diet and physical activity can help you reduce your joint pain. For every 1 pound of weight loss, there is 4 pounds of relief on your knees. Losing 15 pounds can cut knee pain in half!
Wondering where to get started? The US Dept of Health and Human Services created the Move Your Way® campaign to help Americans find safe, fun ways to get active. For Veterans, the US Dept of Veterans Affairs’ MOVE! Weight Management Program was created to help Veterans manage their weight, eat wisely, and be more physically active. Finally, the OA Action Alliance has compiled a variety of resources to assist individuals affected by excess weight to take action steps to improve their joint pain.

The real pride, the real present, is your health and your longevity. My whole career, I have never done anything where competition was involved with weight loss.
