Public Health Associate
Celena is a graduate of Ashford University in 2018 with a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration. Prior to graduation, Celena spent 15 years in the Army and has spent the last 17 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the state of Georgia.
Celena is a participant in the CDC’s Public Health Associate Program (PHAP). The Public Health Associate Program is a competitive two-year, paid training program for recent graduates. Associates work in local, state, tribal health departments as well as NGOs. She will be with the OAAA full time for two years as she gains experience in public health with supplemented education and training from the CDC. She is heavily involved with coalition activities specific to promoting Arthritis Appropriate Evidence-based Interventions (AAEBI) to community-based or other organization as well as individuals with arthritis. Promotion activities will include utilization of appropriate and effective health messaging, execution of the OAAA mini-grant program, and similar activities and strategies.
