OAAA Seeking Participants for Steering Committee and Executive-Level Task Forces

Steering Committee – At-Large Members

The OA Action Alliance Steering Committee seeks 2 volunteers to serve as at-large members. Volunteers’ backgrounds, skills and experience will further the OA Action Alliance mission and its current and future needs to advance the goals and objectives of the organization. At-large members serve as community representatives on the Steering Committee with full voting privileges and perform such duties as delegated by the Steering Committee.

Time Commitment:

  • Approximately 4 hours/month
  • Attend Steering Committee conference calls (approx. 4-6 calls/year) and major OAAA activities (conferences, press events, etc.)
  • 1-year term, renewable for additional year

Executive-Level Task Forces

The OA Action Alliance seeks volunteers to participate on four Executive-level task forces:

  1. Funding, Resource Development, Sustainability
  2. Marketing, Visibility & Communications
  3. Strategic Planning and Management
  4. Membership

Please read the description of each task force below for additional information on the mission and example activities.

Time Commitment:

  • Attend Task Force calls (approx./at minimum: 4 calls/year)
  • 1-year term, renewable for an additional year
Funding, Resource Development & Sustainability

Mission: Develop processes to obtain the human and financial resources for collaborative work to help the coalition operate and implement new programs and maintain programmatic efforts. Develop the coalition’s capacity to support and maintain its activities over time. Integrate programs and services into existing organizations. Example activities: Evaluate current funding status and create a fundraising goal and deadline; Produce a plan that provides short and long-term objectives, strategies and action steps

Marketing, Visibility and Communications

Mission: Develop a process by which the OA Action Alliance presents itself as valuable so that organizations or individuals are willing to make an exchange to be a part of the Alliance. Example activities: Develop an organizational message; Develop a promotion plan and communication strategy for the Alliance

Strategic Action Plan Management and Evaluation

Mission: Develop, select, and implement strategies to achieve OA Action Alliance goals and objectives using effective strategies that reflect the value and priorities of the coalition. Develop a systematic way to improve and account for public health action by using procedures that are useful, feasible, ethical, and accurate (CDC, 1999) Example activities: Develop an annual evaluation plan; Coordinate September OAAA Strategic Planning Meeting 2016

Membership

Mission: Determine how to develop and sustain members’ interest in collaboration and partnering in order to accomplish coalition goals. Example activities: Create a model commitment letter that is sent to new members and renewed by existing members annually; Build membership diversity; Identify and Engage Potential Collaborators or Partners
