Injury to the knee joint, such as an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture, can lead to osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee later in life. In fact, individuals with a history of knee injury are 3-6 times more likely than those without knee injury to develop knee OA, and almost half of individuals with an ACL injury will develop knee OA within 10 years. A few weeks ago, we travelled to New York City for the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament. Every year, at this time we sit by the window at our favorite pizza place on 8thAvenue and we’re grateful for our continued health that lets us keep coming up to support the Tar Heels in this tournament!
