The OA Action Alliance supports all individuals of color in our community and across the nation. The recent, senseless killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery punctuate a long list of prejudices and discriminations that we cannot abide. These injustices are pervasive across our society and are no less prevalent in the world of healthcare. Arthritis affects people indiscriminately but has a disproportionate impact on people of color. To complicate matters, access to healthcare is disproportionately inadequate for people of color. This cannot continue.
The OAAA is a coalition of organizations with a collective interest in improving the lives of people with arthritis. Further, we have an imperative to ensure equity in healthcare and are committed to reducing disparities in musculoskeletal health. We are stronger and more impactful when we work together; and we stand united with our coalition members, members of the public health community, and all others who care about health to fight racism and bias in healthcare delivery and beyond.
